Sports and Chiropractic
Chiropractic care has gained wide following of use
among professional and amateur sports teams across
the country as an effective measure to achieving overall
wellness and advancing in preventative sports injury.
As participation grows in sports, doctors of chiropractic
(DCs) are treating more youth- aged patients who
want to increase their athletic ability by eliminating
acute and chronic pain, increasing flexibility, enhancing
strength and balance with the overarching mentality
of improving overall quality of life.

A growing number of professional and amateur athletes
are seeking new strategies for gaining a competitive
edge. Experts estimate that 90% of all world-class
athletes use chiropractic care to prevent injuries and increase their performance
potential. Many of our favorite and most successful athletes such as Michael Jordan,
Tom Brady, Tiger Woods and Arnold Schwarzenegger have stated their success has
been directly linked to constant chiropractic care and holistic model of wellness. All
National Football League (NFL) teams rely on DCs in varying capacities, and 77% of
athletic trainers have referred players to a chiropractor for evaluation or treatment.
Longevity on the playing field is critical. Professional athletes, coaches, athletic trainers
and sports agents understand the consequences of disabling the pain mechanism
and view chiropractic as essential for treating the cause of pain. But today, even
amateur and aspiring professional athletes understand the benefits of eliminating the
cause of the problem, rather than masking the symptoms through the use of holistic
approaches to wellness and health. With professional sports highlighting its value, chiropractic
is poised to become a mainstream option for improving sports performance
and injury rehabilitation among athletes at every level.

At Weddington Wellness, we have a multitude of services to provide holistic and integrated
services to encourage our community to reach their highest wellness potential.
With over 32 years of experience helping the Charlotte community, we are committed
to aiding both on and off the field both seasoned and new athletes in their strive for

Chiropractic helps create a growing essence of overall health and wellness among
younger athletes who are impacted via sports injuries and recovery. This is important
as young athletes deal with biomechanical and neuromusculoskeletal dysfunction
that can inhibit not only the ability on the field, but also in the off the field recovery.
Numerous studies support the fact that chiropractic care helps athletes achieve an
optimal level of performance. A Canadian research team included chiropractic care in
the rehabilitation program of 16 injured female long-distance runners. These runners
recovered quickly; seven of them actually scored “personal best” performances while
under chiropractic care.

Through Chiropractic care, massage, acupuncture, functional
nutritional analysis, therapeutic exercises and cold
laser treatment, Weddington Wellness has the commitment
and resources to provide support and guidance on
and off the field in maximizing athletic performance and
preventing and managing injuries.
