Cuthbertson High School senior track athlete Aubrie Farwell has been named the Union County Student Athlete of the Week, powered by Huntington Learning Center.   The daughter of Lewis and Georgianna Farwell runs the mid-distance races and specializes in the 400 and relay races.   Her favorite sports memory is winning the Sportsmanship Award at the 2017 State Championship.  In that same meet, Aubrie and her teammates finished second in the 4×400 relay.

As the high school season begins to wrap up Aubrie is aiming improve her 400 time by running a 58 flat.  She is excited to move forward to regionals and states with high hopes of chasing a state championship.  Once the season is complete Aubrie will head to UNC-Wilmington to compete on the track team and continue her education.

“I decided on UNCW because I love the atmosphere, and it’s been my dream school for a while. The beach is my favorite place, so it was a pretty easy decision for me to make. I love the sprint coach and Wilmington and the team are very nice and welcoming.”
Aubrie has also had great success inside the classroom.  She proudly owns a 4.58 grade point average and has been enrolled in Honors and AP courses.  Aubrie is also in the BETA Club, National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the National Society of High School Scholars.
