Tate Johnson Wins Union County Student Athlete of the Week, Powered By Huntington Learning Center
Metrolina Christian Academy junior basketball player Tate Johnson has been named the Union County Student Athlete of the Week, Powered by Huntington Learning Center. The six foot, two inch guard is the son of Charlie and Joey Johnson and he has played basketball his entire life. Now as a 17 year old player, he is excelling on the court and inside the classroom for Metrolina Christian.
Tate is an All-Conference player in basketball and also runs track and cross country at a high level for his school. He was an All-State cross country runner last year and last spring was a conference champion in the 400M, 800M and 4x00M relay.
On the basketball court, Tate finally got to experience dunking in a game earlier this season after many dunks in practice. His teammates loved the excitement of seeing Tate’s first dunk. While the dunks are fun, Tate puts most of his effort into improving all other areas of play as he hopes to earn a college scholarship to play basketball.
The college coaches are going to love his academic resume as Tate carries a 4.85 grade point average. He is a member of the National Honor Society and also serves as Treasurer of the Astronomy Club. Congratulations to Tate Johnson for being named the Union County Student Athlete of the Week, Powered by Huntington Learning Center.
