been named the winner of the Shoeless Enterprises
Leadership Award. The daughter of Mike and Debby
Groenhout has been swimming for the last ten years
and she enters her senior year ready to help the Chargers
win inside the pool. Katie was a top three scorer for
her team last season. She is a strong performer in the
shorter distance races. Katie was awarded the Captain’s
award her sophomore year, an award chosen by the captains
for hard work, performance, and commitment


Katie’s top times include; 50 free – 26.8 and 100 free
– 59.71. Her goals for the season are to make it to the top
16 at the state championship and to drop her times in
the 50 and 100.


Katie is a straight A student and a member of the National Honor Society, Cum
Laude Society and Tri-M Honor Society. She is active in serving her community
through a school service club named Climbing with Kids. The club takes children
rock climbing who might not be able to afford to go. Throughout Sophomore and
Junior year Katie was involved in an organization at Winterfield Elementary that
provided music education after school when their music program was cut.
