With a successful high schoolissue259Hattie pic 6 volleyball career now in the rear

for the drive up I-77 to Davidson College. The daughter of Bob and
Rachel Rodriguez will carry her talents to the Wildcats Volleyball
Team for college. Rachel, a multi-time All-Conference player at the
Outside Hitter position, is looking forward to challenging herself
both academically and on the volleyball court the next four years.

Hattie followed in the footsteps of her mother in learning the game of volleyball.

“I started playing volleyball at a young age because my mom has
played the sport her entire life. She is the person who introduced
me to the sport and inspired me to play. I have grown up loving
the game of volleyball.”

Hattie finished her junior season with 328 kills and was determined
to do even better this past fall. With a commitment to success,
Hattie passed the 4oo kill mark this year, leading the Cougars
into the second round of the state playoffs.

Hattie has also found great success in the classroom with a 4.0 grade point average. She is enrolled in many honors and
AP classes at Charlotte Catholic. Hattie is also a member of the National Honor Society,
National German Honor Society and The Environmental Club. Her academic profile was
very attractive to the Davidson College Volleyball Staff during recruiting.

“Academic success is extremely important to me. I hold myself to a high academic standard
and love to challenge myself in and out of the classroom.”

Hattie also maintains a commitment to helping out inside the community.

“I am heavily involved in community service. Once a month I go to Alexander Youth
Network and teach and play volleyball with the children living there. I also do a lot of service
involving the environment, which is a big part of the Environmental Club. Religious service
hours are also important, so I am involved in service within my parish as well.”

Congratulations to Hattie Rodriguez for her commitment to athletic and academic success.
The South Charlotte Sports Report salutes Hattie on earning the opportunity to continue
her volleyball career at Davidson College. Good luck Hattie!
