Celeste Denny, a rising 8th grader atdenny_picture
Charlotte Country Day School, has been
named the Karsey Glass Breakout Star of
the Week. The 14 year old daughter of Drs.
Roger and Natasha Denny plays softball for
the Buccaneers. Celeste plays both the short
stop and the second base positions on the
softball field.

“I love shortstop because there seems to be a
lot of action. When you are at short your job is
to back up third base, call the plays, and have good
range. My favorite thing about playing short is that
your team depends on you to make plays and be
an infield leader. That motivates me to play my
absolute best at that position.”

Celeste lists her top softball memory as; “When I hit
my first home run over the fence! I swung at the first
pitch and watched the outfielder running backwards.
I was sure she would catch it and was so surprised
when she ran out of room and the umpire motioned
for me to keep circling the bases! My team came out
to meet me at home plate and I felt like I was floating!”

Celeste also works hard inside the classroom at Charlotte
Country Day. She recorded straight A’s this past year.
Celeste is also involved in the National Junior Honor
Society, Model United Nation (UN), and Green Team.
She has impacted the community to by volunteering at
Second Harvest Food Bank and helping to make sandwiches
for the homeless through St. Matthew Catholic Church.
Congratulations to Celeste Denny for being named the
Karsey Glass Breakout Star of the Week.
