Kelsey Troutman has been named the winner of the Prep
Spotlight Athlete of the issue251TroutmanWeek Award, Presented by Tutoring
Club. The Covenant Day School rising junior is one of the top
runners in the community. The daughter of Kendall and Karen
Troutman competes in events ranging in distance from the
200M all the way to the 1600M. Her favorite event is the 800M.

This season, Kelsey broke the 800m school record by 4 seconds
with a time of 2:20.76.

“At States, I ran a personal record and ended up in fourth place
for the 800m after a second place finish in the conference. My
freshman season, both our 4x800m and 4x400m relays placed
second at States with a school record in the 4x800m.”

In addition to running track and cross country, Kelsey enjoys
horeseback riding and has competed in local hunter-jumper
shows over the last few years.

Kelsey has a busy summer planned with a missions trip to
Nicaragua. “This will be my first missions trip besides some
I have done in the Charlotte area through my church. I am
really looking forward to this, and I think it will be a great,
eye-opening experience for me.”

Inside the classroom, Kelsey is a straight A student in high
school. Her favorite subject is Science, especially Biology class.
Kelsey is also a member of the Spanish Honors Society and Beta
Club at Covenant Day.
