Ellie Bowman, a local gymnast, has been named
the Carefree issue252bowmanBoat Club Rising Star of the Week.
The 13 year old daughter of Eric and Michelle Bowman
completed her season with a phenomenal performance
at the AAU National Championships. Her routines scored
9.700 on Vault, 9.150 on Uneven Bars, 9.250 on Balance
Beam, and 9.825 on Floor Exercise.

In the past Ellie has enjoyed performing in the opening
of the Kellogg’s Tour of Gymnastics Champions at the
Spectrum Center in Charlotte. Ellie enjoys competing
and growing her skills in her sport. She trains nine hour
a week and also spends one day dedicated to strength
training. Her top events include the floor exercise and
the vault.

Ellie talks about the most exciting part of her sport;
“The most exciting part about gymnastics is that you
get to express yourself through your body rather than
words. You have this journey that you get to build. This
journey includes close bonds with my gymnastics family,
lessons, and amazing memories. There are always going
to be ups and downs and small or bad injuries. However,
the excitement of being able to recover from that pain or
frustration is the best feeling because it makes you push
yourself ten times harder.”

Inside the classroom, Ellie has found great success, recording
all A’s and one B. She hopes to continue to perform well in the
classroom and inside the gym. Congratulations to Ellie Bowman
for being named the Carefree Boat Club Rising Star of the Week.
