The South Charlotte Sports Report presents the 2017 All-South High School Baseball Team and Awards.

The All-South Team is a selected from high schools that are located inside the South Charlotte Sports Report coverage area.

As with any all-star team, there will be players that are overlooked and could easily have been selected, no selection of all-stars are ever perfect.  The team takes many hours of research and even them, the level of data, opinions and input from certain schools is limited or simply not available.  This team was selected through the work of four community members that have attended dozens of high school games this spring as a game participant, media member of general baseball observer.

Let’s begin with the 2017 awards before moving to the All-South Teams.

Coach of the Year            Greg Simmons, Charlotte Christian School

Coach Simmons led his team to the finals of the NCISSA State Championship this season.

His team was able to overcome injuries to key players and rebound to advance to the state title game

and record a 30-6 record on the season.

Rookie Coach of the Year            Jared Barwick, Sun Valley

Coach Barwick took over a team in need of energy and he provided the spark

needed for an excellent season.   The Spartans are poised to begin to build a

successful program going forward.
