Breakout Star of the Week

Weddington Middle School eighth grader Sam Kilinski has been named the Karsey Glass Breakout Star of the Week.
The 14 year old son of Don and Denise Kilinski is a hard working baseball player with a focus on future success. Sam is
wrapping up his middle school career this month and beginning to prepare for high school baseball. Sam has set goals
for high school baseball.

“Of course everyone wants to be a starter for their high school team, and while I am working hard to become a skilled
first baseman, what I most want is to be is a valuable asset for the team, someone they can count on whether they need
a first baseman, second baseman, pitcher, or outfielder.”

With the end of the spring season, Sam will now move into summer play with the Southern Edge Travel Baseball Team.
He has high hopes for a strong summer of play for his team.

In addition to preparing for baseball success, Sam is very focused on reaching
the top of the ladder inside the classroom. He is a straight A student and
works hard in his Advanced Math and English classes. Sam enjoys Social
Studies class more than any.

“I love learning about the wars that have been fought around the world. The
tactics used and the battles fought in the wars are really interesting to me. I also
think it helps the people of the world understand the causes of the wars and
keep them from happening again.”

Outside of the classroom, Sam is an Acolyte at his church and has volunteered
on several outreach projects for charity, including Stop Hunger Now.

Congratulations to Sam Kilinski for being named the inaugural winner of the
Karsey Glass Breakout Star of the Week Award.
