Emily Clinton Named Architech Sports and Physical Therapy Student Athlete of the Week
Weddington High School senior softball player Emily Clinton has been named the Architech Sports and Physical Therapy Student Athlete of the Week. As a four year starter for the Warriors Softball Team, Emily provides leadership and strong play at the plate and in centerfield. Last spring, Emily hit .500 for the team including seven doubles and two triples. She was named to the All Conference, All District, and All State teams after the 2015 season.
Emily played showcase softball for 7 years under coaches Adam Martin and TJ Eberle, most recently under the Team NC organization. This team traveled throughout the country to play the best competition including participation in tournaments in Florida, Colorado and California.
For her efforts in the classroom and on the field of play, Emily was recently named the Greater Charlotte Hot Stove League Softball Scholar Athlete of the Year. She is a strong student with a 4.9 grade point average. Emily is a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club, and FBLA. In the fall of 2015, Emily and another Weddington student led a community service project to collect used shoes through the Shoeman Water Organization. Shoes are exported and sold and the proceeds are used to fund water sanitation projects.
