A junior at Charlotte Catholic High School, Meredith Applegate,
has been named the Mecklenburg Area Catholic
Schools/ Arbor Construction Group Good Sport of the Month.
The 17 year old daughter of Mike and Janet Applegate is an
essential part of the varsity swim team. Meredith competes
in the the 200 IM, medley relays, and free relays for the Lady
Cougars. As a leader on the team, Meredith hopes to show
the underclassman what it means to be a Cougar, to work
hard, encourage, support, and cheer for one another. She
also hopes to bring a 15th State Championship title back to
Charlotte Catholic. Meredith was also named to the 2015-
2016 USA Swimming Scholastic All American Team.
Outside the pool, Meredith participates in Swim 4 Life, an organization that teaches
underprivileged children how to swim. Inside the classroom, she has attained a
3.75 GPA in honors classes. The junior is also a member of the Spanish National
Honors Society. Her favorite classes are English and Chemistry, and she hopes
to study public health or nutrition in college. Congratulations to Meredith Applegate
for being named the Mecklenburg
