Molly Firr
Charlotte Catholic ninth grade field hockey player Molly Firr has been named the winner of
the Carefree Boat Club Rising Star Award. The 13 year old daughter of Terry and Julie Firr
began playing field hockey in the summer after fifth grade, following
the lead of an older sister. She currently plays the position of midfielder.


Molly competes with the Charlotte Ambush Select U14 team. The Ambush placed second at
the USA Field Hockey National Club Event Challenge this summer. Molly also runs track, and
performs ballet.


In addition to her sports, Molly volunteers at the Matthews Free Medical Clinic, a nonprofit
501(c)3 corp. that provides free, quality healthcare to low income, uninsured patients of Matthews, NC and surrounding
areas, including Mecklenburg and Union Counties.Molly also recently returned from a trip to China.
She attended Chinese language and culture classes and traveled from Beijing to Henan to study Kung Fu, where
Kong Fu started at the Shaolin Temple. She visited the Great Wall, Confucius Temple and the largest export area
in China.

Inside the classroom Molly is an “A” Student and strives for success in high school. Her favorite subject is Biology.
