… Advanced Basketball Development Camp For Rising 5th-8th Graders To Be Held

Accelerate Basketball, a national leader in the development of youth and professional basketball players and the South Charlotte Sports Report have joined forces to offer the 1st Annual Accelerate Basketball Development Camp. This high level development camp will be held July 27th-30th at Providence High School and will feature sessions for boys basketball players in grades 5th-8th. The camp will be led by professional basketball trainers and coaches from Accelerate Basketball and offered to to basketball players who are serious about improving (showcasing) their basketball skills. The Accelerate Basketball Development Camp is designed to teach a high level of basketball ingenuity.

Two sessions will be offered each day of the camp. The rising fifth and sixth graders will attend camp from 9:00am-12:00pm and the rising seventh and eighth graders will follow from 12:30pm-3:30pm. The Accelerate Basketball Development Camp will teach in-depth offensive and defensive concepts needed for success as students move into middle and high school play. Players will be challenged through individual and team drills replicating game situations. The development of each student’s basketball IQ will be a major component of the camp.

Accelerate Basketball Training evolved from Coach Brandon Payne’s concept to blend basketball skills with strength, speed, and agility work. In addition, Accelerate Basketball places a heavy emphasis on injury prevention through their training. Accelerate Basketball is designed to cover all aspects of basketball, including basketball I.Q., teaching game situations, viewing and evaluating game film to help the athlete improve their game. Accelerate is constantly evolving and looking for new ways to help athletes of all ages, race and gender to take their game to another level. Accelerate Basketball officially began in August 2009 under Brandon Payne in the Charlotte, NC area. Accelerate Basketball clients range from All-NBA player Steph Curry down to the youngest players in the Charlotte community.

The South Charlotte Sports Report is owned and operated by Tripp Roakes and  is entering into its tenth year of operation. The youth sports newspaper serves as the backbone of a well-rounded company that also offers over 20 camps per year. In addition the South Charlotte Sports Report operates the four Battle of the Border Baseball Showcase events and two Battle of the Border Softball Showcase events as well as the Greater Charlotte Hot Stove League Baseball and Softball Awards Banquets.
