Ardrey Kell High School senior golfer Mark Capecci serves as the captain for the Knights Golf Team. The son of John and Becky Capecci shot a 67 last year at Charlotte Country Club and has had lots of success on the links since beginning play at a very young age. When did you begin playing golf and why?

“I started playing golf at age 3 to play with my Dad and brother, Andrew. I started hitting the golf club in my backyard when I was only 2 years old”

What are your top three athletic accomplishments?
“I qualified and participated in the Optimist International Junior Championship at PGA National in Palm Beach, Florida during my sophomore year.
I tied for South Mecklenburg 8 Conference Championship last year during my Junior year in high school and I was named co-captain during my junior year and captain during my senior year at Ardrey Kell High School.”
What is the strongest part of your game?
“My iron and approach shots are the best part of my game.”

What makes you the happiest on the course?
“I’m happiest when I hit an approach shot really close or when I chip the ball into the hole when I’m off the green.”

What is your most memorable shot ever?
“I had a hole in one on number 16 at Providence Country Club while playing with my Dad when I was 15 years old.”

How well do you perform in the classroom?
“My GPA is 3.85. I’m a member of the National Honor Society and Vice-President of the Ardrey Kell Young Republican Club.”
Are you involved in any community service projects?
“I volunteer at the First Tee which helps teach golf and life lessons to kids of all ages. I also deliver food for Friendship Trays during the summer.”
Have you started to make plans for college yet?
“Yes. I will be attending the University of Alabama in the fall.”
