Another year of Boys Soccer has come and gone here in the South Charlotte community. Hard battles were fought all across the area this season. The list of soccer players headed on to college continues to lengthen here in South Charlotte. Our voting group had a very hard time this season with choosing a South Charlotte Sports Report Soccer Player of the Year. So many kids found a way to distinguish themselves as being among the best in the area. When all the ballots came in, we found a tie among three players. Each candidate was well qualified and had proven themselves for many years. We don’t think these three will mind sharing top honors this year.

The South Charlotte Sports Report Soccer Players of the Year Are:

Ethan McClain, Weddington
Brendan McDonough, Charlotte Catholic
Matthew Nozedar, Providence

Ethan is headed to play soccer at UNC-Wilmington after leading the Warriors with 30 goals on the season. The senior forward also shared the ball, leading to 21 assists on the year.

Brendan showed that you can play high school soccer and be a high level college recruit. He scored 30 goals and added 24 assist to lead the Cougars to another strong season.

Matthew blasted the back of the net 28 times as he played his final season of soccer before heading to the University of Pittsburgh.
