On fire last week with a 10-0 week, it gets tougher this week in Round 2 of the State Playoffs.   Here we go with some light commentary, As always. I want the local teams to win, but hard to pick all of them

Lake Norman over Ardrey Kell — this game could easily go in the Knights favor, I am giving the edge to Lake Norman as they have the best player on the field in Josh Ladowski.  The DB’s and LB’s will have their hardest test of the season facing this amazing athlete.  He can beat you in so many ways, so the Knights have to be well prepared.  Lake Norman won their first ever playoff game last week, so its not like the Knights are facing a long time powerhouse,   I will go with Lake Norman 31-28

Butler over Mallard Creek — I dont think Mallard Creek has played as well as they have in the past, something is missing.   While the crowd will be good at this game, it will not come close to what this city used to have for prime time matchups.    I will guarantee you that both these teams have special teams issues tonight,, to be as good as they are, their special teams are poor. One thing I always notice about going to Mallard Creek, it feels like the stands are farther from the field than at any other local stadium.    Lets go Butler 33-27

Indy over Hough – A lot of folks i talk to have this marked as an upset, not me.   Hough never seems to put it all together in a big game and they dont have the leadership Indy has in Kelvin Hopkins.  Indy wins 38-20

East Forsyth over Providence — I want an upset in the worst way here for Brian Mattar and the Panthers, but this is the # 1 seed and its on the road.  Coach Hardin could pull it off and I hope he does, but I say East Forsyth 40-21

Weddington over Winston Salem Reynolds    I like this Weddington team, even without their starting QB. I think the defense is tough as nails.  Weddington wins 23-17

Charlotte Catholic over High Point Central      The Cougars are going to roll in this one, Jaret Anderson will have a field day and the Cougars make a statement tonight in 42-21 win

Cuthbertson over Asheboro — Austin Kendall leads the Cavs to another win with an offensive firepower display, Cuthbertson 34-20

Have fun and by all means be safe out there players, families and officials
