KATHERINE PLEVKA SETTING HIGH MARKS IN POOL AND CLASSROOM
Sixteen year old Katherine Plevka continues to build a very impressive swimming and academic resume. The Weddington High School junior recently completed a record breaking high school swim season. In addition to being named Conference Swimmer of the Year, she won the North Carolina State 3A Championship and set a record in the 200 Individual Medley (IM). Not only did she set the record, she shattered it, knocking over 2 seconds off the previous record with a time of 2:04.7. The time was an All-American Time!(complete story)
SWIMMING THE DISTANCE WITH SYD LINDBOLM
Seventeen year old Syd Lindblom has found a wonderful home inside the pool at SwimMac. The daughter of Scott and Cheri Lindbolm is a senior at Providence Day School with a very bright future. Syd is a dynamic student and she has perfected the skill of time management by recording over a 4.0 grade point average and winning the 500 Free NCISSA State Championship. With her high school swim career now in the rear view mirror, Syd will continue to compete for SwimMac before heading off to Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio in the fall.(complete story)
MARY LUCAS SWIMS HER WAY ACROSS LIFE'S OBSTACLES
With a team full of all-conference and all-state swimmers at South Mecklenburg High School the loudest cheers are reserved for a young lady that will unfortunately never have the fastest time or win any big races. How can that be? The race winners are the ones that are supposed to hear the loudest cheers, right? Not at South Mecklenburg High School. The real champion of the swim team is sixteen year old Mary Lucas, a swimmer that battles some of life's toughest obstacles to swim with her peers.(complete story)

2008 Greater Charlotte Swim League Division I All Star Meet Champion
Weddington Swim & Racquet Club's summer swim team, the WEDDINGTON WAHOOS, finished 1st place at the Greater Charlotte Swim League Division I AllStar Meet, held Monday, July 14, at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center. All Division I teams competed for the title.(complete story)
NEIGHBORHOOD SWIM TEAMS CREATE QUITE A SPLASH
You know it must be summer when you ride by a neighborhood pool and find 100 cars parked outside and 400 people surrounding the pool. Inside the cool water one will find the neighborhood kids giving their best effort to top a rival neighborhood in the Greater Charlotte Swim League. Thousands of kids throughout South Charlotte are busy this month with two to three swim meets a week and daily practices.(complete story)
JORDAN KOLETIC TO CONTINUE SWIMMING CAREER IN COLLEGE
One of the top area swimmers, Jordan Koletic, will continue her swimming career at Miami (OH) University. The daughter of David and Natalie Koletic captured the 100M Freestyle gold medal at the North Carolina State Championships in February. The soon to be Charlotte Catholic High School graduated thought long and hard about her college choice before selecting Miami over Clemson, Vanderbilt and Robbins. (complete story)
MAC wins #1 06-07 Scholastic All American Team with most representatives 14 women & 18 men
CHARLOTTE, NC December 14, 2007. MAC is represented by 32 outstanding athlete scholars (14 women/18 men) on their 2006-2007 Scholastic All American Swim Team, more than any other USA Swimming Club. The qualifications for receiving this designation are quite rigorous, involving the calculation of two scores; one for swimming and one for academics that, combined, must be at a certain delta to qualify. To honor this accomplishment, MAC is hosting a celebratory breakfast for the athletes, their families, and their coaches at the MAC Latin pool facility on Saturday, December 22nd at 10:00 am, proudly provided by the newly opened The Flying Biscuit Café at Stonecrest Shopping Center. Some of the student athletes currently being honored are: Peter Amos, Amber Leiker, Jordan Berry, brother and sister, Chip and Casey Van Tassel, and brother’s, Thomas and Matthew Santoli. TONY HEWETT SWIMS FOR THE FUN OF IT
The South Charlotte community has been blessed with world class swimmers like Ricky Berens over the last few years. Those types of swimmers are constantly training and working towards a goal of one day swimming in the Olympics or winning a college scholarship. We also a blessed to have a large number of swimmers like 16 year old Tony Hewett. The son of Carl and Caroline Hewett swims competitively for New South Swimming because he enjoys the sport and loves to spend time with his friends on the team. (complete story)

LANE 8 FULL OF HEART AT SOUTH MECK
South Mecklenburg High School is known for being the
home to one of the best swimming teams in the state. The
Ladies team has finished first or second in the state championship
each of the last four years. The Men’s team finished
second last year and look to contend for the State Championship
once again. Those accomplishments are something the
entire school can be proud of, but the heart of the Sabres
