COMMUNITY HOUSE SOFTBALL TEAM WRAPS UP AN UNDEFEATED SEASON

These girls can play!  For the second year in a row, the Southern Conference Softball Trophy has landed at Community House Middle School.  Last season the Cavaliers captured the title with a 13-1 record, this year, they erased the one blemish on their loss to go 13-0.  Head Coach Danielle Laudone has the privilege of working with so many dedicated softball players.  Along with her assistant Greg Lutz, they led the Cavaliers through a schedule where every team brought their A game to play the Cavaliers.(complete story)


Red Hot Charlotte Blaze Win 10th Straight Tournament

What could possibly be hotter than the region’s recent heat wave?  Eleven little girls in pony tails and war paint known as the 8U Charlotte Blaze Girls Fastpitch Softball Team.  These young ladies have been burning up the softball field week after week with blazing hot bats and near flawless defense.  Just how hot have they been?  During the 2008 season, the 8U Blaze have posted a jaw dropping 43 – 1 record and outscored their opponents 617 – 138.  This consistently strong performance has resulted in 10 straight tournament championships – an unheard of accomplishment and a first for the Blaze organization.  (complete story)


MYKAELA WILLIAMS DELIVERS ON THE SOFTBALL FIELD AND IN THE CLASSROOM

When the going got tough on the softball field at Ardrey Kell High School this spring, the Knights knew they could count on Mykaela Williams to deliver.  Whether it was a key hit or a diving catch in the outfield, Mykaela was always prepared to help the Knights win a softball game.

Mykaela, the daughter of Mike and Sarah Williams, is a rising junior at Ardrey Kell High School. With a batting average of .329, Williams was awarded the Offensive Player of the Year for the Knight’s 2008 season.  Mykaela  also earned Southwest 4A All-Conference honors and was named to the South Charlotte Sports Report All-South Softball team this spring.(complete story)

ALL-SOUTH SOFTBALL TEAM

The South Charlotte Sports Report is proud to announce the 2008 All-South Softball Team.  The squad of 15 players has been selected by gathering the opinions of area coaches, scouts and observers.  The South Charlotte area may be the top community in the state for overall softball talent.  It’s important to note that these selections are based entirely on each players high school performance and do not include any outside softball achievements.  As with any all-star selection process, outstanding players may be left off the final team.   The South Charlotte Sports Report salutes all high school softball players in the area for their hard work and dedication to the sport.(complete story)


SOUTH CHARLOTTE SPORTS REPORT SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE YEAR - CONSTANCE ORR

Many area softball players were hoping this would be a down year for Butler High School since they lost All-American pitcher Ashton Ward to The University of Tennessee.  Butler has had their way the last few seasons; maybe this year would be different.  Those false hopes were dashed by the “next great Butler pitcher,” Constance Orr.(complete story)

High school softball is alive and well in South Charlotte this season.  With  All-American Ashton Ward now pitching for The University of Tennessee the candidates for player of the year are plentiful.(complete story)


THE KRUGER FAMILY ENJOYS BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL

The Kruger Family can almost always be found at either the baseball or softball diamond. With two athletic teenagers, Ed and Anne Kruger enjoy watching their children, Michael and Kelly compete.(complete story)


CHARLOTTE BLAZE BLACK 12U FASTPITCH SOFTBALL TEAM WINS AGAIN

The Charlotte Blaze (Black) 12U girls fast-pitch softball team competed in and won the Hot-N-Now NSA Tournament in Statesville on June 19th, marking its fourth consecutive tournament win. This travel team, consisting of girls from Mecklenburg, Union and Stanley counties, now boasts a record of 31 – 4, and has won 23 consecutive games by outscoring its opponents 286 - 66. Other tournament  wins include the Schutt Invitational in Rocky Mount, NC and the Sweet Sixteen Tournament here in Gastonia. With the number one NSA ranking in the State of North Carolina, they are gearing up for a run at the Softball World Series being held this July right here in Charlotte.(complete story)

Ardrey Kell Softball loses 8-3 to Butler

The Lady Knights took on defending 4A State Champions Butler on Friday evening, hosting the Bulldogs in a Southwestern 4A Conference match-up.(complete release)


AK Softball takes 17-1 Victory over Myers Park

The Lady Knights Softball Team returned to action Tuesday, following the Spring Break holiday. The Knights traveled to Myers Park to take on the Mustangs, defeating the Mustangs in just 4 innings by a score of 17 to 1 and improving the AK record to 7-5 overall, 5-3 in conference play. Congratulations to the OPRA 15u Girls Fastpitch Softball Team... for winning the Char-Meck Fall Tournament Championship! 

After a strong regular season, the team made an undefeated run through a talented group of opponents in the league's 15u fall tournament. They finished the season with a 13-3 record, and the title of Tournament Champions. (click for photo)

CHARLOTTE BLAZE SOFTBALL, A HOT COMMODITY

These girls can play!  They don’t mind getting dirty and they love the competitiveness of the game of softball.  The members of the Charlotte Blaze traveling softball teams are a dedicated group of young ladies, led by a fantastic coaching staff. With five teams, 8U, 10U (2 teams), 12U and 14U completing the organization, the Charlotte Blaze offer a unique opportunity for many of the top softball players in the community. 

The organization fielded its first travel softball team for the 2002 season and just four short years later, have established themselves as one of the premiere travel organizations in North Carolina.  Traveling across the state to play tournaments, all four teams are a threat to bring home the hardware every time they step on to the field.
