By: K.J. Brent- Junior M.R.H.S.
Marvin Ridge High School is only in its third year of existence and already their athletic program is top-notch as if it was a school with decades of experience. If you need an example take the Marvin Ridge Varsity Dance Team. There was not a dance team program at the high school level until Christine Brent was offered a job with the school . She has years of experience in the dance world from dancing as a Dukette at James Madison University to dancing in musicals like Bye-Bye Birdie and Chicago. Coach Brent came to the school having coached in Virginia and Missouri. She meant business and started to build a program full of spirited, dedicated and talented dancers. (complete

That is why Albert Einstein once said, “Dancers are the athletes of God.” (complete

A FEELING OF FAMILY AT WEIR DANCIN’ IN
MATTHEWS
As Weir Dancin’ business partners Fritz & Annette
Schulte, their daughter Nina and Allyson Weir strive
hard to deliver a family atmosphere for their dance students. Many
students will walk through the front door of Weir Dancin’ as
toddlers and stay until graduating from high school. With
the amount of time spent practicing for competitions, the
professional staff at Weir Dancin’, headed up by Allyson
and Nina as Artistic Directors, become an extended family
for the students.
“We really are like a family here, with our practices,
recitals and competitions, we all share in each others victories
and pull hard for everyone to succeed,” said Weir. “The
parents of our students play such a large role with our studio,
not only helping their own children but helping all of our
students to grow through dance.” (complete
