KELSEY BENDIG SIGNS WITH UNC-WILMINGTON VOLLEYBALL TEAM

One of the top volleyball players in the area, Kelsey Bendig is headed to the beach for college!  Kelsey, a Providence High School senior signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her volleyball career at UNC-Wilmington.   Kelsey plays the position of setter for Providence Head Coach Karen Bradbury and captured All-Conference Honors this season.   Her outstanding play in the Southwestern 4A tournament led her to being awarded the tournament most valuable player.

Kelsey joins a long list of Division 1 volleyball players to attend Providence High School.  She recognizes how much the experience helped her to grow as a player.

“Providence has always had a strong competitive program and I played in that environment for 4 years.  I have played at Providence with 7 players that have been recruited to play volleyball at D1 schools.”

Kelsey also played for the Carolina Juniors 17U Rage during the 2006/2007 Club season, exposing her talents to volleyball coaches from across the country.

UNC-Wilmington worked hard to win Kelsey’s services and she returned the favor by choosing the Seahawks.

“UNCW is building a strong volleyball program and I really like the coach and the players.   Coach Jennifer McCall was a setter at a big D1 school (Florida State).”

The Seahawks have gained a fantastic volleyball player and The South Charlotte Sports Report sends out our best wishes to Kelsey on a successful college career.
