Central Cabarrus  4

Weddington  1

Central Cabarrus was stifled most of the night by Weddington pitcher Morgan Nayle but one big inning is all the Vikings needed.  Weddington took a one run lead to the bottom of the sixth on a third inning home run by Grace Manning.  But it was the aggressive play in the bottom of the sixth that pushed the Vikings over the top.  Kasey Lee and Hailey Salter led off the inning with back to back singles followed by a double by Elyssa Bost.  Lacie Couble and Aniya Tate added RBI singles later in the inning to plate four runs for the lead.  Brantleigh Parrott went the distance for Central Cabarrus striking out seven.  Central Cabarrus improved to 8-1 (3-1 virtual) while Weddington fell to 1-7 (1-4 virtual).

Ardrey Kell  3

Cannon  3

The wildest finish to a game on Tuesday night came with Cannon hosting Ardrey Kell.  It was a back and forth game throughout with Cannon scoring one in the second, fourth and sixth and Ardrey Kell matching those runs in the third, fifth and seventh.  After playing two scoreless innings and heading to the top of the ninth, the lights down the left field line at Cannon’s home field burst into flames, went out and created a massive dark area over the field.  The virtual umpires met with both head coaches and it was agreed upon to be a classic 3-3 tie.  Sydney Wood, Jessie Dickerson and Brie Biddle each had two hits on the night for Cannon while Lexi Markle, Abby Newton and Maddie Christenson added two each for the Knights. Cannon moved to 3-5-1 (0-5-1 virtual) while the Knights moved to 5-5-1 (1-3-1 virtual).
