Myers Park used a balanced attack at home on Monday to beat Charlotte Catholic 9-3.  The Mustangs scored in each of the six innings to keep the pressure on the young Charlotte Catholic squad.  Alina Atzor had three hits for the Mustangs while Whittney Barringer, Whitney Formon and Evy Oxendine each collected two hits.  Brylie Major added three RBI’s to mix.  Charlotte Catholic was led offensively by Cara Bowman and Bree Abreu who each reached base twiceon the evening.  Myers Park improved to 8-1 (3-1 virtual) while Charlotte Catholic fell to 3-4 (2-3 virtual).

Independence hosted conference rival Porter Ridge for an afternoon game in Mint Hill and the Patriots didn’t disappoint.  Jaylin Adkins held the potent Pirate offense to six hits and no runs while the Patriots scored in each of the first four innings to beat Porter Ridge 9-0.  Abriana Berry collected two hits from the lead off spot while Emma Wrenn and Adkins also collected multiple hits for the Patriots.  Mallory Shaver had a big double in the third inning to score three runs and put the game out of reach.  Makayla Cuthbertson and Sarah Myers each had two hits for the Pirates while Calyn Mincey had two RBI’s.  Independence improved to 4-5-1 (2-3 virtual) while the Pirates fell to 4-3 (2-3 virtual).
