issue206klingermanWeddington High School senior tennis player Derek Klingerman has been named the Architect Sports and Physical Therapy Student Athlete of the Week. The son of Jeff and Kerry Klingerman is an all-conference player and had advanced as far as the state semifinals in his tennis career at Weddington. Derek excels in both singles and doubles matches.

Derek began playing tennis at age 11 after playing baseball, football, soccer and golf earlier in life. His favorite part of the game is simply being outside and competing with his friends and teammates. Derek is serving as the Co-Captain for the Warriors Tennis Team this spring. He hopes to help lead the team to the state finals this year.
Inside the classroom, Derek takes a heavy AP load and enjoys business and computer programming classes. He plans on majoring in Computer Science at UNCC. Congratulations to Derek Klingerman for being named the Architect Sports and Physical Therapy Student Athlete of the Week.
