Weddington High School junior wrestler Parker Walton has been named the Queen City Audio, Video and Appliances Community Heroes Award Winner. Parker is a two time wrestling MVP for the Warriors. He competes in the 106 pound weight class. The son of Greg and Donna Walton has been wrestling since the age of nine and has found great success on the mat.   Last season Parker placed 2nd at the State Tournament. He is also a two-time MVP of his high school team.”

 

Parker organized a fund-raiser for his wrestling team to participate in called the Take-Down-A-Thon. The goal of the program is to help raise money that will allow young wrestlers to learn more about the sport and the opportunities available.

 

“My team and I got sponsors and pledges at the beginning of the season for the number of take downs we score during the season and the proceeds at the end will go to the new youth wrestling program at a local athletic association, WCWAA.”

 

 

When not wrestling or working on his project, Parker is an outstanding students with a 4.85 grade point average. He is also a member of the Beta Club and Environmental Club at his school.   Away from his studies Parker finds enjoyment in fishing, both freshwater and saltwater.
