The Weddington Middle School Swim Team has been named the Queen City Audio, Video and Appliances Community Heroes Award Winner. On Saturday, December 13th, before their 4th swim meet of the season, the Weddington Middle School Swim Team gathered to help the less fortunate in Union County. Each year, the team performs a community service project, and this year the team’s families donated items which the swimmers stuffed into more than 50 Christmas stockings. Among the items donated and stuffed into stockings were: warm socks; hair accessories; toothbrushes and tooth paste;  gloves, Christmas candy and crayons. The stockings will be given to more than 50 children by the Union County Christmas Bureau. The Union County Christmas Bureau assists over 8,000 children, seniors and disabled Union County residents each year by providing Christmas gifts, warm clothing and food for Christmas dinner.

The Weddington Wildcats are in the midst of a great season, having beaten long-time rival Marvin Ridge for the first time. The team also had a special practice lead by National Swim Team member Madison Kennedy the week before she represented the United States at the World Swim Championships.QueenCityApplLogo_full
