Taylor Helms with Student-Athlete Award
Cuthbertson High School senior Taylor Helms has been named the Architech Sports and Physical Therapy Student Athlete of the Week. The 17 year old daughter of Rodney and Lisa Helms is wrapping up a very successful career for the Cavaliers which includes scoring over 1,000 points and helping the team to their first ever playoff appearance. The combo guard hopes to continue her playing career in college and is currently holding an offer from Wingate University.
Taylor is determined to make her final year of high school her best ever. Her play on the court has risen another level and the team continues to improve. Taylor and the team have set goals of making a deep playoff run and winning the conference championship. Taylor knows how important it is for the Cavaliers to have confidence in their abilities. She lives by the following quote; “”Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try.” She adds; “I believe that this quote has made a big impact on my athletic and academic career so far. As you can see from the quote, you have to be willing to work if you want to be successful, whether it be athletically or academically.”
Inside the classroom, Taylor is a real all-star with a 4.4 grade point average. She is a member of the FCA, BETA and the French clubs. Taylor has plans to complete her four year degree before going to Medical School for post-graduate work. Congratulations to Taylor Helms for being named the Architech Sports and Physical Therapy Student Athlete of the Week.
