CAROLINE DENNEHY REMAINS FOCUSED ON HER GAME

Charlotte Christian School senior basketball player Caroline Dennehy has been playing basketball her entire life. As a four year varsity player for the Knights, Caroline is about to close out an outstanding prep career. Under first year head coach Luke Boythe, Caroline is averaging just under 13 points a game and connecting on 44% of her three point shots. Caroline is a wonderful leader for her team and is known for challenging her teammates and herself to become the best they all can be.

Caroline is also an All-State discus and shot put athlete for Charlotte Christian. She has found great success participating in throwing events for the Knights.

Caroline lists her top three athletic accomplishments as being named a NCISAA 3A All-Conference & All-State Thrower, being named to the Charlotte Hoops Challenge & Bluffton Bobcat Classic First-Team All-Tournament Teams and being named an All-Conference basketball performer.

“My best basketball memory from high school was probably beating South Meck at the Charlotte Hoops Challenge this year. We came into the game as an underdog with several starters injured. We overcame the obstacles presented to us, and pulled together to win in double overtime.”

With the current season now at the halfway point, Caroline has set her goals for the year.

“My goals for this basketball season are to win a Conference Championship and a State Championship. Also, I’m always striving to expand my game and grow together with my team.”

Caroline hopes to play college basketball next season and hopes to be in position to commit to a team by the end of the season.

In addition to her success on the basketball court and in her throwing events, Caroline has worked hard to find success in the classroom.

“Academically, I am a Cum Laude Honors student and have maintained a 3.5 GPA while taking several challenging classes. My favorite class that I am taking this year would definitely have to be AP Psychology. I am a member of the Tri-M Music Honors Society and an officer in our Student Government Association.”

Caroline added, “I am also a member of the Youth International Club, which is a club similar to Young Life inside the Charlotte Christian Community. In addition, I enjoy working basketball camps for younger children. This gives me the opportunity to encourage them and pass on things that I have learned.”
Caroline knows how important it is to be a successful Student-athlete.

“Academics come before athletics. Basketball doesn’t last forever, and when you are done playing the game, you always need something to fall back on. I think it is important to be a well-rounded individual.”

The South Charlotte Sports Report salutes Caroline Dennehy for her commitment to athletics and academics. Her approach has gained the respect of all of her teammates and coaches. Caroline will be a great success as she completed her journey through Charlotte Christian and beyond. Good luck Caroline.
