South Mecklenburg High School freshman Haywood Ferguson has been named the Architech Sports and Physical Therapy Student Athlete of the Week.  The 15 year old son of Chris and Lisa Marie Ferguson placed on the NCHSAA 4A Western Regional All-Region Team this year.  Haywood, one of the top 9th grade runners in the state has run a 16:15 at the McAlpine Creek Course, and a 12:03 in the 2.1 mile at the Myers Park High School Course. He hopes to run in the top-ten in the prestigious FootLocker Freshman race Thanksgiving Weekend.

Haywood gives credit first and foremost to God and also to his Middle School coaches Vanessa Robinson and Payne Dinsbeer and his current coach Mame Emmerich, for taking the South Mecklenburg  team to States for the 1st time in twelve years.

Inside the classroom, Haywood is an excellent student and he is active in Young Life and with his church youth group.  He loved to spend time being active out in the woods and create new adventures.  Congratulations to Haywood Ferguson for being named the Architech Sports and Physical Therapy Student Athlete of the Week.
